About Us
Getting to know you
Sandwell MBC has undertaken a project called 'Getting to Know You', where we have asked tenants to provide us with equality information, so that we can tailor our services to meet the needs of individual customers. We now hold equality information on 97% of our tenants. This includes: • Age • Gender • Ethnicity • Disability / Long-term health conditions • Religion / Faith • Sexual Orientation • Languages spoken and read • Additional communication needs i.e. documents in Braille or large print • Preferred method of contact • An indication of tenants who wish to get involved and how We keep this information up-to-date by conducting a review every year or every two years by sending every tenant a statement which contains information they have already given us and asking them to confirm that the information is still accurate. This will give tenants the opportunity to update, amend or add any missing information. It may also encourage those tenants who have not yet responded to us, to complete the statement and return it. What have we learned so far? The data collected enables us to identify gaps and improve services to our tenants by ensuring that we take into consideration their needs as individuals. Click on this link to find out more about the information we hold on the breakdown of our tenants. Updating your information Ensuring your information is up-to-date will help us provide a better, more effective service to you, our customers. When you receive a Getting to Know You review statement confirming the information you have already provided, please take the opportunity to update, amend or add any missing information and return it to us. If the information we hold is correct there will be no need for you to contact us. You will receive a statement every year or every 2 years, giving you the opportunity to view and amend your details, thereby ensuring they are up-to-date and relevant at all times. Is your information safe? Don’t worry, the information you provide will be stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and used only for analysis purposes by Sandwell MBC to monitor and improve the services we provide. The information collected will help us monitor and improve:
New guides for our employees The Equality Team has produced guides to help employees to better understand the issues faced by the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community; help assist disabled customers; and communicate effectively with customers who are deaf or have hearing impairments.
