Awards and accreditations
Sandwell Homes is continuously monitoring the services it provides to tenants and leaseholders. We are proud of our current standards but, more importantly, we constantly strive to improve.
Below are some of the awards and accreditations given to us in the course of our improvements, that you as our tenants, leaseholders and partners can be sure that we are always working towards providing the highest standards of service, safety and customer care.

Sustainable Housing Awards 2011
The Sustainable Housing Awards, which are hosted by Inside Housing, the UK’s leading weekly magazine for housing professionals in the UK, recognise Sandwell Homes work in greening its supply chain whilst also engaging residents through an eco-friendly community project.

Investors in People
In October 2005 Sandwell Homes was awarded the Investors in People (IiP) award. Investors in People is a quality standard which measures the effectiveness of an organisations management and development of its employees. |

The Disability Symbol
The disability symbol is awarded by Job Centre Plus and shows that we meet the five commitments to good employment practice that it represents.
The symbol is to inform the people we employ, and other disabled people who might be interested in the organisation, that we have a positive approach to employing disabled people.

Freedom of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) was passed on 30 November 2000. Both the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act relate to information handling. Public authorities will have two main responsibilities under the Act. They will have to produce a Publication Scheme (effectively a guide to the information they hold which is publicly available) and they will have to deal with individual requests for information. |

Bureau Veritas Certification
ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System is an Internationally recognised Standard which helps organisations to implement more efficient working practices and improve quality and service. The Standard is certified through independent, accredited, external audit by Bureau Veritas Certification which provides assurance as to its use and implementation. |

Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents
Since 1956 RoSPA has organised a prestigious national award scheme to recognise excellence in health and safety performance by private and public sector organisations.
This year, Sandwell Homes achieved the Gold Award for Health and Safety.

United Kingdom Accreditation Service
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators. |

Telecare Services Association
The Telecare Services Association (TSA) is the representative body for the telecare industry in the United Kingdom. Their purpose is to realise the potential of the social alarms industry.
Their remit includes setting standards for professionalism, encouraging best practice and promoting a wider awareness of the telecare industry's role in meeting the real social needs of its users. |

Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies
In September 2007 Sandwell Homes Supported Housing Warden Service was awarded the The Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies (CSHS)Code of Practice award. The CSHS Accreditation is a set of 10 quality and robust standards which measures the effectiveness of an organisations support services and development of its employees.
The CSHS remit includes setting standards for professionalism, encouraging best practice and promoting a wider awareness of the support service industry's role in meeting the real social needs of its users. |

Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme Accreditation (CHAS)
Sandwell Homes recently acquired CHAS accreditation following a compliance audit. |

Gas Safe Register
Sandwell Homes is Gas Safe Registered. The Gas Safe Register is the new hallmark for gas safety in Great Britain. From 1st April 2009, Gas Safe Register replaces the CORGI gas registration scheme as the official gas safety body. By law, only Gas Safe registered engineers should carry out work on gas appliances in your home. |

Customer Service Excellence Sandwell Homes is CSE accredited. Customer Service Excellence aims to bring professional, high-level customer service concepts into common currency with front-line public services by offering a unique improvement tool to help those delivering public services put their customers at the core of what they do. |

Bureau Veritas Quality International
Sandwell Homes’ environmental processes are certified to ISO14001 and EMAS (Eco Management Audit Scheme) standards. |

HouseMark ASB Accredited
Awarded by Housemark, an organisation which supports housing organisations to improve their performance and services, the accreditation allows social landlords to demonstrate to their tenants, partners and the wider community that they are responding well to anti-social behaviour, recognising that it’s a high priority issue for many tenants. |
