Awards And Accreditations
Sandwell Homes is continuously monitoring the services it provides to tenants and leasholders. We are proud of our current standards but, more importantly, we constantly strive to improve.
Below are some of the awards and accreditations given to us in the course of our improvements, that you as our tenants, leaseholders and partners can be sure that we are always working towards providing the highest standards of service, safety and customer care.

Investors In People
In October 2005 Sandwell Homes was awarded the Investors in People (IiP) award. Investors in People is a quality standard which measures the effectiveness of an organisations management and development of its employees. |

Freedom Of Information
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) was passed on 30 November 2000. Both the Freedom of Information Act and the Data Protection Act relate to information handling. Public authorities will have two main responsibilities under the Act. They will have to produce a Publication Scheme (effectively a guide to the information they hold which is publicly available) and they will have to deal with individual requests for information. |

Bureau Veritas Quality International
ISO 9001:2000 is an international standard related to quality management, applicable to any organisation from all types of business sectors and activities. It is based on eight quality management principles (all fundamental to good business practice). When fully adopted, these principles can help improve organisational performance. |

Royal Society For The Prevention Of Accidents
Since 1956 RoSPA has organised a prestigious national award scheme to recognise excellence in health and safety performance by private and public sector organisations. This year, Sandwell Homes achieved the Gold Award for Health and Safety. |

Council for Registered Gas Installers
CORGI works to a tight remit prescribed by the Health & Safety Executive. As well as operating the register of competent gas installers it investigates gas safety related complaints from the public and provides members of the public with details of local registered installers.
Around 47,000 gas installation businesses employing approximately 98,000 gas fitting operatives are currently registered. |

United Kingdom Accreditation Service
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is the sole national accreditation body recognised by government to assess, against internationally agreed standards, organisations that provide certification, testing, inspection and calibration services.
Accreditation by UKAS demonstrates the competence, impartiality and performance capability of these evaluators.

Charter Mark
Charter Mark is the UK Government's national standard for excellence in customer service. It is a registered certification mark, owned by the Government Communications Group in the Cabinet Office and is a positive force for change and customer service improvement.
Charter Mark holders have demonstrated that they offer choice to their customers so that a wide range of needs are catered for. The benefits of new technology are maximised. Users and staff are consulted on where choices can be made. Communities have a say in the design and delivery of local services. |

Telecare Services Association
The Telecare Services Association (TSA) is the representative body for the telecare industry in the United Kingdom. Their purpose is to realise the potential of the social alarms industry.
Their remit includes setting standards for professionalism, encouraging best practice and promoting a wider awareness of the telecare industry's role in meeting the real social needs of its users. |

Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies
In September 2007 Sandwell Homes Supported Housing Warden Service was awarded the The Centre for Sheltered Housing Studies (CSHS)Code of Practice award. The CSHS Accreditation is a set of 10 quality and robust standards which measures the effectiveness of an organisations support services and development of its employees.
The CSHS remit includes setting standards for professionalism, encouraging best practice and promoting a wider awareness of the support service industry's role in meeting the real social needs of its users.

NFA Awards
In May 2008 Sandwell Homes received the National Federation of ALMOs award in the Best Community Initiative category. This national award recognised a series of innovative games through which the organisation's community involvement officers could engage with tenants, leaseholders and employees to help them understand policy issues and to contribute ideas and suggestions.

WMCCE Awards
In April 2008 the Sandwell Homes Decent Homes Partnership (SHDP) was hailed as one of the most innovative and forward thinking construction partnerships in the region.
The partnership, which is a joint working agreement between Sandwell Homes, Taylor Woodrow Construction, Lovell, Wates Living Space, Connaught Partnerships, Sandwell MBC Urban Design, Rider Levett Bucknall and Thomas Vale Construction has won a prestigious West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence award for integration and collaborative working.
