Welcome to the Governance section of the website.

What is Governance?

Governance is the set of processes, customs, policies and laws affecting the way in which a company is directed, administered or controlled.  It is the process of decision making and the process by which decisions are implemented (or not implemented).


Good Governance is essential to the long term success of any organisation, providing the systems and procedures to ensure that all the information is fed into the appropriate decision making forum.


Sandwell Homes is a registered Company.  Governance arrangements need to be in line with the Companies Act.

The Governance Unit is responsible for the administration and servicing of Sandwell Homes Board, Committees and Housing Service Panels, which include:

  • Sandwell Homes Board
  • Human Resources Committee
  • Operations Committee
  • Audit and Scrutiny Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Remuneration Committee
  • Employment Appeals Panel
  • Housing Service Panels
  • Task and Finish Groups such as Tenant Participation
