Decent Homes
The Work We Do
The most visible aspect of our work to customers is the Decent Homes Programme, which includes an investment of some £425 million over a 5 year period, to make homes decent. This involves us replacing kitchens and bathrooms, as well as wiring and heating inside people's homes. External work is also carried out, including new roofs, doors and windows. We are also investing heavily in our multi-storey blocks to make them better places to live and more attractive landmarks on the skyline of Sandwell. Work is underway to improve the landscaping of open spaces outside of people's homes, to make them safer and more appealing.
Outside of the Decent Homes Programme, we plan to deliver much of the cyclical building maintenance needed to communal areas and services, such as lighting, fire control systems, door entry systems and communal aerial systems.
We also carry out the purchasing function on behalf of Sandwell Homes by buying in the materials and services that the company needs to conduct its wider business.
