Employee Diversity Group
The Employee Diversity Group (EDG) has been set up to enable Sandwell Homes employees to play a role in furthering the progress of equality and diversity. Membership of the group will represent employees from as many diverse groups as possible. Employees can come and discuss equality and diversity issues that they feel affects the workforce more widely.
The EDG meet on a monthly basis. A number of issues are discussed including access to training, interpretation facilities, temporary workers and much more.
The group acts as a development group for Sandwell Homes on all Equality and Diversity issues, and as such may request and receive reports and presentations on corporate equality and diversity issues.
A number of service area managers/champions have attended meetings to directly address issues raised. Minutes are taken at all meetings and an agenda is set for each meeting based on the issues members have highlighted and would like to be discussed
Any employee who would like to contribute to equality and diversity issues is welcome. We are hoping to involve representatives from various equality groups (disability, gender, race, ethnicity, sexuality, religion and age) and service areas.
The group is supported by the Equality team to set their own agenda.
