How To Get Involved

You can get involved in a number of ways:
  • Tenants and Residents Association (TRA) – TRA's are local groups where residents come together to discuss issues that effect their community and to engage with Sandwell Homes and other agencies in order to resolve those issues. If there is not a TRA in your area would you be interested in starting one? Sandwell Home can provide financial and officer support to get your group off the ground
  • Housing Service Panels – These panels are made up of local tenants and residents who come together four times a year to discuss the issues that effect their town
  • Tenant Inspectors Project – Do you want to be involved in inspecting the housing services? This voluntary scheme enables tenants to carry out spot checks on the services Sandwell Homes delivers

How To Get InvolvedThese are just a few examples of the many ways you can influence the service.

Even if you only have a few minutes to spare you can still have your say by becoming a member of the tenant talkback panel and completing postal survey's.

Who can I contact?

Your Community Involvement Officer will provide you with more details.

Tenants Inspectorate Project

The tenant inspectorate project is made up of tenants who inspect the services received from Sandwell Homes.

A volunteer tenant inspector can be involved in:

  • Conducting face to face interviews
  • Mystery Customers
  • Shadowing an officer
  • Conducting telephone surveys
  • Attending a bi-monthly meeting

The level of involvement is up to you.

Tenant Inspectors and Mystery Shoppers are not paid to undertake inspections, but are reimbursed for reasonable travel expenses and child care costs.

Since the implementation in November 2001, the inspectors have completed inspections in aspects of customer care, complaints, repairs, estate management, decent homes, racial harassment and gas services. The results of these inspections have generated numerous improvements in services provided to our customers.

Please see recent inspection findings below:
