Tenants And Residents Association

Tenants Resident Association ImageYou can get involved in a number of ways. One way is through supporting your local Tenants & Residents Association (TRA). Sandwell Homes can provide funding for setting up a TRA and other grants to keep your group running effectively.

Training is also provided to new and existing TRAs in things such as committee skills, effective meetings, financial matters etc. If there isn’t a TRA in your area, and you and a few others would like to start one, contact the Community Involvement Team on 0121 569 6466.

Our wheel of  involvement below should give you some idea of the many different opportunities for getting involved and having your say in shaping the future of Sandwell Homes and the services we provide.

The Wheel of Involvement

In order to enable as many residents as possible to get involved we have set up a ‘Wheel of Involvement’. The wheel is made up of four stages that require different levels of commitment and time from very little to quite considerable.

The four parts of the wheel cover:

Communication

Receiving information through Homelife (our inhouse magazine), being informed of new policies and services.

Consultation

Giving us your feedback and suggestions. This could be face-to-face, by telephone, post or e-mail.

Involvement

Being a member of a group recognised by Sandwell Homes or attending specific focus groups and conferences to give us your views.

Empowerment

Being a member of a formal decision-making group that meets regularly. You may also represent the views of tenants at these meetings.

The wheel of Involvement

“Will I be out of pocket if I get involved and what support will I receive?”

We will pay all reasonable expenses, such as travel and childcare for you to attend meetings, training or focus groups. Anybody who wishes to become more involved will be offered support, both in the way of advice and thorough training, where needed.
