Ending Your Tenancy
To End Your Tenancy You Must Do The Following
- Give us at least 28 days notice
- Allow Sandwell Homes staff to inspect and assess the condition of your property (you may be recharged if repairs need to be carried out)
- Make sure that your rent is up to date
- Give us your new address in case we need to contact you. We will keep this information strictly confidential
- Make sure you remove all your belongings and leave your home neat and tidy. If we have to clear your belongings, we will have to charge you for the cost of doing so
- Leave the property secure with all windows and doors shut
- Return the keys to a Sandwell Homes Local Neighbourhood Office on the last day of your notice period. Failing to do so may result in another weeks' rent being charged
- Arrange to have your mail redirected
Other People You May Need To Contact When You Move
- Your gas and electricity suppliers
- The water company
- British Telecom or the cable company
- Our Council Tax Office
- Our Housing Benefit Office (if you claim)
- The Department for Work and Pensions
- The Television Licensing Authority if you own a television
