Money Matters Advice Booklet
Residents of Sandwell can now seek help and advice on getting out of debt thanks to a new booklet called Money Matters, which has been produced by Sandwell Homes.
The booklet has been produced in partnership with Sandwell Council's Welfare Rights Unit, the Six Towns Credit Union and Sandwell Citizens Advice Bureau in order to give residents informative, consistent information to help them better manage financial difficulties.
It contains information on how to maximise your income, where and how to access free independent impartial advice on your finances and how to access affordable credit. There is also a self-help section aimed at individuals who may otherwise be reluctant to ask for help until their financial situation becomes unmanageable and spirals out of control.
Jim Dearlove is a Stakeholder Manager for Now Let's Talk Money, which is a Government campaign to tackle financial inclusion and improve awareness of debt advice, banking and affordable credit. He said of Money Matters:
"This booklet is particularly good as it contains lots of practical information and signposts organisations that can offer help and advice for those with money worries and financial difficulties. It will be posted on the campaign's website (www.nowletstalkmoney.com) as an example of best practice."
With studies showing post-Christmas blues and bad weather combine to make January the most depressing month of the year, it is hoped that Money Matters will lift people's spirits as it helps bring down their debt.
Copies of the booklet can be obtained by clicking here. The booklet will also shortly be available at all Sandwell Homes Neighbourhood Offices as well as other partnership organisations.
