Housing Vulnerable People Service

The Housing Vulnerable People Service (formerly known as the Community Care Unit) sits within Sandwell Homes' Community Care Division, which also includes the Tenancy Support Service, Community Alarms and Wardens services.

The Service provides specialist housing options advice to individuals as well as statutory and voluntary agencies where a housing need has been identified.

The service works with vulnerable people who have been diagnosed with mental ill health, learning disabilities, physical and or sensory disabilities.  We also work with vulnerable young people including young people leaving care and young families.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for vulnerable people in Sandwell by providing a person centred approach to housing and resettlement.

We provide advice and assistance on access to housing and support services for vulnerable people who are:

• Being discharged from hospital, rehabilitation units or residential care
• Moving on from Sandwell’s supported housing projects or supported lodgings
• Young people leaving care
• Young families including teenage parents
• Vulnerable families via the Vulnerable Families Housing Panel
• People with learning disabilities who need accommodation as part of the supported living model
• People who need an adapted property
